Neste Oil Commits to Using Solely Certified Palm Oil by the End of 2015

Neste Oil announced that it is committed to using solely certified palm oil as and when sufficient volumes become available. The company believes that this will be possible by the end of 2015 if the positive trend in certification continues. Palm oil is one of the feedstocks used in producing Neste Oil's NExBTL renewable diesel, which is the cleanest diesel fuel on the market today.

The company recently received its first cargo (5,000 tons) of palm oil from sources certified using a mass balance supply chain model. Neste Oil expects to use at least 50,000 tons of certified palm oil this year, and projects that this figure will rise rapidly in subsequent years. Neste Oil is a member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), an organization that brings together palm oil producers, users, and NGOs in the interest of promoting the production of sustainable palm oil.
