IMF Holds U.S. Article IV Press Conference; Economic Conditions Improving

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) held a press conference this morning to discuss its U.S. Article IV. First Deputy Managing Director John Lipsky said recent data suggests that the sharp fall in economic activity has slowed and financial conditions have improved noticeably.

Furthermore, the IMF said that the growth of domestic demand in the U.S. will depend more on its trading partners over the next 5-10 years. Lipsky also said that the dollar is still the principal reserve currency in the global economy and will remain so as far as he can see.
