SIFE Mumbai Regional Competition clearing eight colleges are D.Y. Patil University - Dept. of Business Management- Mumbai, H.R. College of Commerce and Economics- Mumbai, M.M.K. College of Commerce and Economics- Mumbai, National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE)- Mumbai, Symbiosis Institute of Operations Management (SIOM)- Nashik and Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research- Mumbai, GITAM Institute of Management- Vishakhapattanam and Army Institute of Management - Kolkata were selected by the eminent jury panel comprising of industry leaders from distinguished organizations including- WNS Global Services, KPMG, PWC and HSBC.
"SIFE India offers these college students an opportunity to apply their academic knowledge to solve real problems in communities around them by creating economically sustainable business models. In the process, they learn to compete in a global environment, understand business ethics, develop leadership qualities and communication skills," said Keshav R. Murugesh, Chairman, SIFE India and Group CEO, WNS Global Services. "All the competing teams have displayed a great sense of responsibility towards communities around them, through their projects. We are proud to say that our students are making a difference to the society, by applying classroom learning in the real world," he added.
The top eight qualifying colleges of the SIFE India Mumbai Regional Competition will compete with other regional finalists, at the SIFE India National Competition to be held at Hotel Intercontinental, The Lalit, in Mumbai on July 1, 2011, where noted Banker and Chairman of HDFC Ltd, Deepak Parekh will be present at the event as the Chief Guest. The selected National Champion of SIFE India team will participate in the SIFE World Cup to be held in October, 2011, in Malaysia, where, 39 countries will compete at the SIFE World Cup for the SIFE global title.
